Overview

The city is comprised of a city manager and seven departments that provide different services to Chanhassen. Departments, divisions, and important functions are listed below. Visit each department's page to learn more.

Highest Paid Employees

Minnesota State Law – Chapter 156 of the Session Laws of 2005 – requires that "a city or county with a population of more than 15,000 must annually notify its residents of the positions and base salaries of its three highest-paid employees."

The City of Chanhassen’s three highest-paid employees are:

  • City Manager Laurie Hokkanen - $222,985.10
  • Public Works Director/City Engineer Charles Howley - $195,508.01
  • Finance Director Kelly Grinnell - $167,531.52
  • Parks and Recreation Director Jerry Ruegemer - $167,531.52
