About Chanhassen
The City of Chanhassen is located in Carver County, Minnesota, approximately 20 miles west of the Twin Cities. Chanhassen has an array of outdoor adventure activities and a bustling downtown filled with restaurants, shops, and businesses. The city operates under a Council‐Manager form of government with around 80 full-time employees, serving a population of approximately 26,000 people. The city is comprised of seven departments:
Administration
Administration is comprised of the city manager’s office, the city clerk, communications, human resources, clerical support and information technology.
Community Development
Community Development is comprised of planning, economic development and natural resources.
Fire
The Fire Department is comprised of fire response, building and fire inspections and community risk reduction programming.
Finance
The city’s Finance Department includes our financial analysts and utility billing staff.
Parks and Recreation
Parks and Recreation is comprised of park maintenance, recreation programming, community events, the Chanhassen Recreation Center and Senior Center.
Engineering
The engineering department consists of the City Engineers office, permitting staff, GIS, water resources, and facilities maintenance.
Public Works
Public Works consists of three divisions: streets and street maintenance, sewer and water, surface water, utilities, and fleet maintenance.
