Home MenuStormwater Pond Management Plan
The City of Chanhassen has approximately 250 publicly owned stormwater ponds. A stormwater pond is a common type of stormwater management Best Management Practice (BMP) used for rate control, flood mitigation, and water quality treatment. In the summer of 2020, city field staff conducted comprehensive bathymetric and visual condition surveys on nearly all 250 ponds. The purpose of these surveys was to obtain quantitative data on the condition of the city’s ponds and to use this data to prioritize which of the city’s ponds need maintenance. Pond maintenance is crucial to ensuring healthy stormwater infrastructure in the city and protecting downstream water bodies and natural resources.
