2025 Stormwater Pond Maintenance Project
Overview
The City is implementing its annual stormwater pond maintenance project. The project locations were chosen based on the comprehensive survey and subsequent prioritization of the City’s entire network of stormwater ponds. This is the fifth year that the City implemented a large-scale annual stormwater pond maintenance project. The pond maintenance work will be paid for utilizing the Surface Water Management Fees collected with utility bills and new developments, with no additional cost to property owners.
Stormwater wet ponds are a key Best Management Practice (BMP) used to slow and treat stormwater runoff. As runoff enters the pond, sediment and other pollutants settle to the bottom. Over time, these materials accumulate and must be removed to maintain the pond’s performance. The primary construction activities for this project include removing the built-up sediment and completing any necessary maintenance on the associated stormwater infrastructure.

The general scope of work includes:
- Removing obstructions to access the ponds.
- Cleaning out accumulated sediment.
- Stabilizing eroded areas.
- Repairing storm pipes and structures.
- Restoring the disturbed areas.
The 2025 pond projects are currently moving into construction, with the final restoration occurring in spring 2026.
Access to the ponds will differ at each location, and the city will work with adjacent property owners before and during construction to communicate the scope of work. Some trees and other vegetation may likely need to be removed to access each pond.
