Before landscaping, planting trees, installing a fence, mailbox, or underground sprinkling system, building a deck or home addition, or anything where digging is involved, remember to call Gopher State One Call (GSOC) to locate underground utilities before excavating.

GSOC is a free service provided by Minnesota’s underground utility operators.

Call GSOC at 811 or (651) 454-0002 two business days before digging (not including weekends, holidays, or emergencies). Office hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Have the following information ready before you call:

  • Dig Location
  • Name
  • Nearest Intersection
  • Phone Number
  • Start date, time
  • Street Address
  • Type of Work

Note

  • GSOC can only locate services that utility companies have installed.
  • Private contractors or homeowners will have to locate other services such as sprinklers, power lines to a garage, gas grill line, or invisible fencing.
  • If you hire a professional contractor, they are responsible for contacting GSOC.
  • Mark the digging area with white stakes or white spray paint; otherwise, the utility company may mark your entire lot.
  • You must not dig any closer than two feet from any utility markings.
