Overview

The Chanhassen Recreation Center opened in September of 1995 and serves the residents of Chanhassen and the surrounding area.

The Recreation Center takes pride in creating a fun and friendly atmosphere for people of all ages at an affordable price. The Recreation Center is a focal point for many of the city’s recreation activities. The facilities include a gym, fitness room, aerobics/dance room, and meeting rooms.

The Recreation Center offers a unique no pre-registration system that fits busy lifestyles. Go to the “club” when you feel like it and only pay for what you use (no yearly membership fees). Simply pay for the fitness room and open gym when you check-in, or use your punch card.

Program & Event Spotlight

Kids' Night Out

Ages 4-10

Kids, leave the parents at home—it's time for a kids' night out! Join a fun night of gym games, crafts, a movie and a pizza dinner. For kids ages 4-10. $28 for residents, $30 for nonresidents.

Rec Center Sports

Ages 3-6

An introductory, fun sport program for ages 3-4 & 5-6. Children must be out of diapers to participate. Parents are encouraged to assist. Check out our Small Fry and Lil' Star classes online.

Charcoal and Acrylic Art Classes

Ages 12+

Spend your day as an artist! Learn how to blend charcoal and acrylic mediums for a unique piece of art for your home. Sign-up for one class or all classes - each class covers a unique nature-inspired piece.

Kim's ACTA Tae Kwon Do

Ages 3 to Adult

At Kim’s ACTA, we offer a traditional Tae Kwon Do program as part of the American Chung Do Kwan Tae Kwon Do Association (ACTA). Grandmaster In Mook Kim brought our curriculum to the U.S., emphasizing discipline, respect, and self-defense. Classes at the Chanhassen Rec Center are designed for various ages and skill levels, making it perfect for families to train together.

Holiday Hours & Closures

The Rec Center is closed on New Years Day, Easter, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. There are modified hours on other holidays. In the event of inclement winter weather, the Recreation Center will make the decision to close. Call the Rec Center at (952) 227-1400 for specific information.
