Overview

Chanhassen takes great pride in the quality of its public park system. We have a rich tradition of providing properly equipped and well-maintained park and open space sites. The desirability of these park facilities is substantiated through resident surveys, national quality of life awards, and public testimony. In a 2016 citizen survey, 94% rated city parks as good or excellent.

Parks and recreation is an essential service that positively impacts health, crime prevention, the environment, the economy, and the quality of life in our community! Take time to discover the wonders that Chanhassen’s 44 parks and open spaces offer today.

According to Chanhassen's municipal code (section 14-65), all dogs must be leashed in public spaces, such as city trails and streets. Dogs, even leashed, are not allowed in parks, except for on trails, or at public beach areas.

You must immediately pick up your dog's feces if you have your dog in a public space. It is a requirement for anyone who has their dog with them in public to have equipment for picking up and removing feces.

If you are looking to let your dog off its leash to run around and play, visit the off-leash dog area at Lake Minnewashta Regional Park (Carver County Parks) or the Carver off-leash dog area at the Carver Park Reserve (Three Rivers Parks).
