Overview

The yard waste site at the Chanhassen Public Works Facility (7901 Park Place) opens for the season on Monday, April 6, 2026. Hours are Monday-Friday: 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and will be closed on holidays. Summer hours will be in effect on Friday, May 29, until Friday, September 4, and the site will be closed starting at noon every Friday during that time.

The site is monitored by a security camera and is available for Chanhassen residents. The site is not intended for commercial yard waste use, regardless of the address from which the debris was collected. 

Yard Waste Site Rules

• Residents must check in at the Public Works office and show proof of residency prior to dumping yard waste.
• Staff need to be on site to collect payment in order to drop off yard waste. 
• Commercial haulers or commercial landscapers are not allowed access to the site, regardless of the address the material came from.
• We accept cash, check, or credit. Only exact cash or check is accepted.
• Yard Waste is only to be dumped in the indicated areas.

• Leaves
• Grass clippings
• Brush
• Wood of any diameter (no lumber)
• Paper yard waste bags
• Compostable bags

Unacceptable Items

• Plastic Bags
• Lumber (treated and untreated)
• Trash
• Sod
• Soil or dirt
• Twine & string
• Animal waste
• Fireplace or BBQ ashes
• Rock
• Metal

Cost for Residents

There is a new pricing structure for yard waste drop-off in 2026. Any truck larger than a standard pick-up truck or trailer larger than 4x8' will be $30. See below for pricing breakdown.

• $1 per compostable bag
• $15 per standard truckload or utility trailer (no larger than 4'x8')
• $30 per truck or trailer load

Residents pay at the Public Works office before unloading.

Free Mulch Bin

Looking for some mulch? We have now installed a bin for free mulch near the yard waste dumping site. Mulch is self-serve. Please do not dump any yard waste in the mulch bin.
