State Funding Supports Chanhassen Community Center

Post Date:05/26/2026 6:04 PM

The City of Chanhassen has been awarded $2.5 million in the State of Minnesota’s 2026 bonding bill to support the Chanhassen Community Center project, marking a significant state investment in a facility designed to serve residents throughout the southwest metro region.

The bonding award is intended to help offset eligible capital costs associated with the Community Center project. State bonding funds are typically restricted to long-term public infrastructure and construction-related expenses and are subject to state oversight and compliance requirements.

The bonding materials submitted by the city described the project as a regional community center designed to serve both Chanhassen residents and visitors from surrounding communities. The materials also highlighted Chanhassen’s strong regional draw, including the large number of nonresident participants in local recreation programs and youth sports.

The state funding will help offset eligible capital costs tied to the Community Center project and is expected to reduce the city’s local financing needs. The appropriation will follow standard state bonding guidelines and oversight procedures.

We’re enormously grateful to Representative Lucy Rehm and Senator Julia Coleman for their advocacy and support of this project throughout the bonding bill process. Their partnership will help reduce the amount that otherwise would have needed to be financed locally and is an important investment in Chanhassen and the southwest metro area.
