Library Access Changes Begin April 27

Post Date:04/17/2026 2:32 PM

Residents visiting the Chanhassen Library should plan for temporary access and parking changes beginning Monday, April 27, as curb and pavement work continues on the Chanhassen Civic Campus project

Through approximately mid-June, construction activities near the library entrance will require the temporary closure of the driveway directly in front of the library, along with the adjacent, lower level parking lot. During this time, the most convenient public parking for library visitors will be the City Hall/Senior Center parking lot located east of the library and north of City Hall, which is accessible via Market Boulevard or Chan View. From there you can walk to the Library via a direct sidewalk connection to the Library’s front door.

In addition, Kerber Boulevard north of the library will be fully closed from April 27 to May 18 as crews complete improvements that include additional street parking and a new activated pedestrian crossing.

Residents who are only dropping off library materials should note that while the book return is open, they will need to park then walk over to use it.  Library materials checked out from Chanhassen can be returned at any Carver County Library location. Library services will remain open during construction.

Residents who prefer may also choose to visit or have their holds sent to another Carver County Library location during this period. Holds can be updated online through a library account or by contacting library staff directly.

We appreciate residents’ patience as these improvements continue. The work is part of the broader Civic Campus project designed to enhance access, parking and the overall visitor experience in the area. The Civic Campus project is installing an enhanced pedestrian crossing on Kerber Blvd just north of the Library entrance along with adding on-street parking on Kerber Blvd adjacent to the Library.

For updates throughout the project, please check the city website. You can download the detour map here.
