Lions Club Fountain Donation_2024-2The City of Chanhassen hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on October 14, 2024, at Bandimere Community Park to celebrate the installation of a new drinking fountain, which was generously donated by the Chanhassen Lions Club. Members of the Chanhassen Lions Club, including Dan Mertes and Glenn Kaufmann, joined Chanhassen city staff for the event. The fountain enhances Bandimere Community Park and reflects the club’s long-standing mission to support and improve community spaces.

Since its founding in 1988, the Chanhassen Lions Club has played an active role in enhancing public areas throughout Chanhassen. Their contributions include park improvements such as partially funding ballfield lighting at Lake Ann Park, installing benches and signage, and even placing a drinking fountain at the Lake Ann playground. These efforts have created welcoming spaces for residents to gather, enjoy recreation, and participate in civic life.

Beyond parks, the Lions Club also leads and sponsors various community service projects in Chanhassen. They have sponsored the Chanhassen Senior Center Summer Picnic for over 22 years, volunteered at city events, and supported a drive-in concert for seniors. The Lions Club has also marshaled at annual February Festival ice fishing contest and contributed to food drives for PROP Food Shelf, underscoring their dedication to the broader community.

Chanhassen extends its gratitude to the Lions Club for over 36 years of service and generosity, supporting programs and projects that strengthen community connections. The new drinking fountain at Bandimere Community Park is a testament to their commitment to Chanhassen and its residents.
